Treatment Approach & Programs

Sunlight Recovery is a licensed drug and alcohol treatment center with two campuses in South Florida: one in Boca Raton for residential and detox care, and one in Deerfield Beach for outpatient programming. Both campuses share the same clinical network, so patients who move between levels of care stay within a system that already knows their history and their needs.
When you arrive, you go through a clinical assessment covering your physical health, substance use history and any mental health concerns, all of which shape the treatment plan the team builds around you. Most people find it straightforward, and staff are available to answer questions, clarify next steps and move at a pace that works for you.
Sunlight Recovery holds accreditation from the Joint Commission, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) and the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), and is licensed by Florida’s Department of Children and Families (DCF), reflecting a standard of care that accrediting bodies review and renew consistently. Beyond the credentials, treatment here is built around the individual, with no two plans looking the same because no two people arrive with the same history.
Sunlight Recovery treats adults struggling with substance use disorders including alcohol, opioids, cocaine, heroin, benzodiazepines, amphetamines and sedatives, along with co-occurring mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder and personality disorders through a dual diagnosis program, where clinicians treat both the addiction and the mental health condition at the same time rather than addressing each one separately.
Treatment at Sunlight Recovery follows you through each stage of recovery rather than placing you at a fixed level of care. It starts with medical detox, where clinical staff monitor and manage withdrawal symptoms around the clock to keep you physically stable, then moves into inpatient or residential or outpatient programming depending on where you are in the process. At every stage, your clinical team adjusts the mix of individual therapy, group therapy and medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which uses FDA-approved medications alongside therapy to reduce cravings and lower the risk of relapse, based on what you need most at that point in your recovery.
Yes. Medication-assisted treatment is available for patients who meet the clinical criteria, with your treatment team assessing whether it is the right fit during your admissions evaluation.

Insurance, Admissions & Who We Treat

As an in-network provider with many major insurance plans, Sunlight Recovery can often cover all or a significant portion of treatment. The fastest way to find out where you stand is to let the admissions team verify your benefits before you commit to anything. Our representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the conversation costs you nothing.
Sunlight Recovery treats adults 18 and older.
Many patients travel to Sunlight Recovery from other parts of the country, specifically to put distance between themselves and their home environment during treatment. Our Boca Raton setup offers a calm, warm setting that makes it easier to focus on recovery without the pull of familiar triggers. If you’re thinking about enrolling, our admissions team can help you think through the logistics before you arrive.
Yes, and you would not be alone. Many people at Sunlight Recovery have attempted recovery before arriving here. Prior treatment doesn’t disqualify you, and it often simply means the previous approach was not the right fit, something the clinical team takes seriously when building your plan.
You can call or reach out online, with no pressure to commit to anything on the first conversation, a reasonable place to start for anyone who just wants to ask a few questions first.

What Your Days Will Look Like

Length of stay depends on your clinical needs and how you progress through the program, with detox timelines varying based on the substance and severity of dependence and residential treatment running longer and more involved. Your treatment team reassesses regularly so the plan stays relevant.
The clinical team at Sunlight Recovery builds each day around your recovery, with a balance of individual therapy, group sessions, wellness activities and time to process what you are working through. With recovery, structure matters in the early stages, and your treatment team designs your personalized schedule to keep you engaged without becoming overwhelming.
Yes, we do. Sunlight Recovery incorporates wellness directly into the program, with a gym, yoga space, pool and canteen available at the Deerfield Beach campus as part of how the team supports recovery here. Yes. However, the clinical team will work to create appropriate groupings based on individual needs and comfort.
They can be. Our approach isn’t limited to any single framework, and your clinical team builds treatment around what works for you, which may or may not include 12-step programming, depending on your plan.

What to Bring and What to Expect

Electronic use during residential treatment is structured to support your recovery rather than interrupt it. The admissions team can walk you through the specific guidelines before you arrive, so there are no surprises on your first day.
Once you confirm your start date, the admissions team will send you a full list of what to bring and what to leave at home. If you have questions before then, just ask when you call.
Family involvement is an important part of recovery. Talk to the admissions team about what that looks like at each stage of treatment, as it varies depending on where you are in the program.
